HUESCA

 
    Huesca, one of the provinces of the Aragon region. The region offers a wide variety of sporting opportunities including horse riding, mountaineering, paragliding and mountain cycling. The nature reserve in the mountain range of Guara is particularly a beautiful place to be. Huesca also offers excellent alpine skiing. The region has adapted perfectly to the new green tourism and provides a wide selection of hotels, including rural accommodation. When it comes to fiestas and festivals, the region has more than its fair share.
  In the winter you will find carnivals in the valleys of Gistain and Bielsa to mark the pig slaughtering. In the spring, May Days and processions such as the Victory Festival in Jaca. In the summer the magical night of St.John is one of the best and in Huesca you will see the celebrations of St. Lawrence. The history of the region is evident in the cave paintings in the mountain range and the inscriptions on the Roman villas on the banks of the river Cinca. The cathedrals of Huesca and Barbastro illustrate classic Gothic styles whilst the rural churches consist mainly of Renaissance and Baroque styles with their multi-coloured interiors. The landscape is dotted with monasteries, churches and fortresses and everywhere you go you will find legends of The Holy Grail, St.George and the Bell of Huesca, evoking a magical feel to the region.
